김해시, 캐나다 과학기술 교류 '활짝'

'캐나다한인과학기술자협회' 등 5자 간 업무 협약식 개최

Gimhae City – Canadian science and technology exchange in full swing Held a business agreement ceremony with five parties, including the ‘Korean Canadian Scientists and Engineers Association’

Gimhae City held an agreement ceremony for science and technology exchange and cooperation with the Canadian Korean Scientists and Engineers Association.

 The contracting organizations are five organizations: Gimhae City, The Association of Korean-Canadian Scientists and Engineers (AKCSE), Inje University, Gimhae Chamber of Commerce, and Gimhae Biomedical Industry Promotion Agency.

About 20 people attended the agreement ceremony, including Gimhae Mayor Hong Tae-yong, AKCSE Chairman Kim Seong-hwan, Inje University Vice President for Academic Affairs Kim Jin-sang, Gimhae Chamber of Commerce Chairman Noh Eun-sik, and Gimhae Biomedical Industry Promotion Agency Director Kim Jong-wook.

   AKCSE is a non-political, non-profit organization established on November 29, 1986, with the purpose of supporting many young Koreans to enter the field of science and technology and developing the science, technology, and industrial economy of Korea and Canada.

The number of registered members alone reaches approximately 3,000, and it operates 11 local branches, 8 next-generation young expert branches, 4 expert organizations, and 17 next-generation university branches.

 Major activities include promoting exchange and cooperation in science and technology between Korea and Canada, exchange and information exchange between Korean Canadian scientists and engineers, and nurturing future science and technology engineers through the Korean Canadian Science Scholarship Foundation (KCSSF). In addition, there are national math and science programs.  AKCSE is engaged in various activities such as hosting competitions (NMSC), Canada-Korea Conference (CKC), and operating the R&D Canada portal website.

   The main contents of the agreement are regular exchange between organizations and active participation in or joint promotion of events hosted by other organizations. Inje University's Glocal University 30 project is actively supported, and the agreement ceremony began with watching a promotional video for each institution and ended with a resolution meeting for the final selection of Inje University's Glocal University 30.

   With the signing of this agreement, the scope of Gimhae City's science and technology research and exchanges is expected to expand to Canada, and in particular, the global capabilities of Inje University's Glocal University 30 project are expected to be further strengthened.

   Mr. Hong Tae-yong, the mayor of Kimhae City, said, “Science and technology are the foundation of all industrial development, so expectations for today’s agreement are quite high. I would like to thank once again the officials of the Korean Canadian Scientists and Engineers Association who attended the agreement ceremony, and I hope that this opportunity will serve as a stepping stone for the exchange between our city and Canada to become more active,” he said.

김해시는 캐나다한인과학기술자협회 간의 과학기술 교류 및 협력을 위한 협약식을 개최했다.

이번 기술 교류 협약 기관은 김해시, 캐나다한인과학기술자협회(The Association of Korean-Canadian Scientists and Engineers, 이하 AKCSE), 인제대학교, 김해상공회의소, 김해의생명산업진흥원 등의 5개 기관으로, 협약식에는 홍태용 김해시장, 김성환 AKCSE 회장, 김진상 인제대학교 교학부총장, 노은식 김해상공회의소 회장, 김종욱 김해의생명산업진흥원 원장 등 20여 명이 참석했다.

AKCSE는 많은 젊은 한인들의 과학기술 분야 진출 지원과 한국과 캐나다의 과학기술 및 산업경제 발전을 목적으로 1986년 11월 29일에 설립된 비정치 및 비영리 단체이다. 

등록회원 수만 해도 3,000여 명에 이르며 11개의 지역 지부, 8개의 차세대 청년전문가 지부, 4개의 전문가단체 그리고 17개의 차세대 대학지부를 운영하고 있다.

주요활동으로는 한국과 캐나다 양국 간 과학기술 교류 및 협력증진,  캐나다한인과학기술자 간 교류 및 정보교환, 캐나다한인과학장학재단(KCSSF)을 통한 미래 과학기술자 육성 등이 있으며, 이 외에도 전국 수학 및 과학경시대회(NMSC) 개최, 캐나다-한국 콘퍼런스(CKC) 개최, R&D Canada 포털 웹사이트 운영 등의 다양한 활동을 하고 있다.

협약의 주요 내용은 기관 간 정기적인 교류, 타 기관 주최행사 적극적 참여 또는 공동 추진, 인제대학교 글로컬대학30 사업 적극 지원 등이며   협약식은 기관별 홍보영상 시청으로 시작해 인제대학교 글로컬대학30 본선정 결의대회로 마무리 됐다.

이번 협약 체결로 김해시의 과학기술 분야 연구와 교류 범위가 캐나다까지 확장되고 특히 인제대학교의 글로컬대학30 사업의 글로벌 역량이 더욱 강화될 것으로 보인다.

홍태용 김해시장은 “과학기술은 모든 산업 발전의 근간으로 오늘 협약에 대한 기대가 상당히 크다. 협약식에 참석해 주신 캐나다한인과학기술자협회 관계자분들께 다시 한번 감사드리며 이번 기회를 발판으로 우리시와 캐나다와의 교류가 더욱 활발해지기를 바란다.”고 말했다.
